To safeguard public interest and ensure supply reliability, we have formulated a Crisis Management Plan to deal with emergency situations. Measures and procedures for contingency have been devised for major events which could cause service interruptions within the power network and affect the community as a whole. Emergency drills are carried out every year to familiarise staff with the guidelines and procedures to be followed.

In 2010, one of the major drills conducted at Lamma Power Station involved the simulation of a major fire breaking out inside the plant, following an explosion of a gas-fired generating unit. This drill tested the coordination of power plant staff with the Fire Services Department, and the capability of our station fire teams in handling a major fire.

The fire drill at Lamma Power Station is an annual exercise to test the preparedness of all staff in a simulated crisis situation.
